Hey there!

I’m Heather. I am a photographer, herbalist, aspiring midwife, crystal aficionado, lover of Ancient Celtic mythology and Scottish folklore, and consumer of all entertainment in the sci-fi genre. So yeah…I’m pretty much a witch.

I am mother to 4 wild and free-thinking children. I live in the misty and magical Pacific Northwest and when I’m not busy I can usually be found out on my porch drinking waaaay too much tea and listening to the rain.

What I’m Passionate About

Here in the US there is so much chronic illness and our diets are riddled with additives, preservatives, artificial colors and flavors. Yet we are surrounded by food and medicine that we just don’t know how to see or connect with. I am passionate about educating people about the wild edible and medicinal plants that are (literally) all around them. When you deepen your connection with the natural world it’s both fun and liberating! When we open our hearts to a deep connection with nature we are also fostering a deep connection to one another, to all beings seen and unseen. When we open ourselves to understanding and loving one another we let go of fear and when there is no fear, there is no hate.

I am also passionate about childbirth and the culture surrounding maternity care in the US. More important than the way in which we are born is the way in which our birthing mothers are treated during their transition into motherhood and the energy surrounding that journey. I believe women should be empowered to make their own choices about their births. As women, too often we give away our power. Pregnancy and childbirth are hugely significant physical, emotional, and spiritual events in a woman’s life, and an opportunity for her to step into her power. As a doula, childbirth educator, and birth photographer I have had many opportunities to both support women and to capture the incredible power of birthing women and the miracle of new life being brought forth into the world. It is the most incredible thing to bear witness to and I am so grateful to the many families who have entrusted me to capture those moments.

I love teaching and I want to help more people to discover the magic in their lives. That everyday magic and medicine that can make us whole. You do not need to go any farther than your very own neighborhood to discover it. As above, so below. As within, so without. We make our own magic. It is intuitive and simple and anyone can do it. If that sounds really “out there,” that’s ok. But it certainly can’t hurt. Tell your ego to get out of the way and just have fun!

“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”—Christoper Reeve.

Since moving from our farm in North Carolina back to Washington State, it has been our family’s dream to purchase land here in the Pacific Northwest and start a new farm that will become our livelihood and life’s work as well as serve our local community. We have BIG dreams for this property. We would like to create a community medicinal herb garden, where visitors have free access to medicinal plants and information about foraging for local wild plants and how to use them for food and medicine. We also dream of having a free-standing birth center, once I complete my midwifery training, that includes a celestial garden and outdoor birth tub under the stars, where we can create a physically and energetically beautiful space for women and their families to feel safe and supported in their birth choices. In addition we dream of a little farm-to-table restaurant and meadery and guest cabins on the property where people can stay and learn and enjoy the beauty of the Northwest.

And of course I plan to grow old there and become the village crazy lady. Nothing would make me happier.
